Porsche® Performance Tuning

What is Performance Tuning?

The majority of modern engines are operated by a computer, better known as the ECU (Engine Control Unit). This electronic calculating unit sets the pre-ignition and quantity of fuel to be injected, depending on a number of parameters like surrounding temperature, air density, engine RPMs, etc. All of this data is saved in one or more memories, called EPROM's or "chip's" for short. Chip (performance) tuning means that the chip with the original data is replaced by another one with optimized data. The resulting increase in capacity and torque provides a more agreeable and smoother motoring performance. In the case of turbo engines, performance increases of between 20 and 40% go hand in hand with a reduction in fuel consumption. Chip tuning has only been around the USA for a few years, but there are still great differences in the quality and performance of American chips and software. One popular method of tuning involves installing a tuning box. The other method involves reprogramming the ECUs firmware. We DO NOT sell tuning boxes. In our experience, boxes do not even compare with the smoothness, power and MPG gains of an ECU reprogram. All tuning chips are developed on a modern dynamometer in cooperation with professional technicians. During the test phase, all possible physical influences are simulated. Only this procedure allows us to program tuning chips for different engines appropriate to your wishes and your vehicle. All our products are up to date which guarantees perfect performance and adjustment. At RS Motorwerks you can be sure to receive best quality Porsche® services and products at very good prices.

We have the capability to perform same-day reprogramming of Porsche® ECUs.

Will Performance tuning void my warranty?

Federal law sets forth requirements for warranties and contains a number of provisions to prevent vehicle manufacturers, dealers and others from unjustly denying warranty coverage. With regard to aftermarket parts, the spirit of the law is that warranty coverage cannot be denied simply because such parts are present on the vehicle, or have been used. The warranty coverage can be denied only if the aftermarket part caused the malfunction or damage for which warranty coverage is sought. Disputes in this area usually boil down to arguments over facts and technical opinions, rather than arguments over interpretations of the law.
